Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Ural Philharmonic Orchestra. He is a People’s Artist of Russia, winner of the State Prize of the Russian Federation, winner of the Governor’s award of the Sverdlovsk Region, winner of the International Competition of Young Conductors Lovro von Matacic in Zagreb, prize-winner of the Muzykalnoe Obozrenie (Music Review) newspaper.
One of the leading symphony orchestras in Italy, was founded in 1994 through the merger of the public radio orchestras of Turin, Rome, Milan, and Naples. Its chief conductor appointed in 2009 is Juraj Valcuha.
Marco Angius drew the attention of the audience and reviewers, conducting the world premiere of Studi per l’intonazione del mare by Salvatore Sciarrino in 2000.
It was conceived and founded in 2006 as an orchestra-academy combining an educational mission and concert activities. Its musicians are students studying at musical educational institutions of Ekaterinburg. The Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1978. It consists of one hundred twenty musicians from twelve to twenty five years old. Over the long performing life of the orchestra, most of its ‘graduates’ continued their musical career and became soloists, members of other orchestras or music teachers. Pak Wing-heng is a musician, teacher and conductor. He studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, then at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Ng Ka-ming graduated from the Hong Kong Conservatory of Music in 1983; he studied violin with Lin Kek-han and Carl Pini. He studied conducting with Professor Huang Xiao-tong at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and in London with the famous conductor, Klaus Tennstedt, in advanced conducting courses. Joseph Kam is a violist, violinist and conductor. He graduated from the University of Michigan, where he earned his master and doctoral degrees in musical arts. Joseph Kam has a reputation of an outstanding concertmaster. He was the viola principal of the Lansing Symphony Orchestra (USA).
